Howes Percival backs Northamptonshire charity for 2010
The Northampton office of the law firm Howes Percival has chosen to fundraise for the Northamptonshire Community Foundation throughout 2010.
The partners, lawyers and their support workers will be raising money during the year to support the charity’s vital funding of local voluntary and community groups.
The Foundation was set up specifically for Northamptonshire in 2001 and awards grants to grassroots groups, has a wealth of knowledge about needs within the county and connects people who want to give with causes close to their hearts.
Howes Percival solicitor Hannah Wilmot said the law firm’s staff chose the Foundation as its chosen charity for 2010 because of the broad scope of the organisation’s work across Northamptonshire. “The great aspect of the Foundation is that it benefits many people and groups, and therefore the county as a whole. We look forward to raising lots of money through a variety of events in 2010.”
The fundraising has already begun, with hundreds of Pounds raised by a raffle at Howes Percival’s annual Christmas quiz. More than 60 people from businesses in Northampton took part on the quiz, many also donating prizes for the raffle.
The event, at the Charles Bradlaugh pub in December, heard about the Foundation’s work from its donor development manager Jessica Pilkington. In January Hannah Wilmot, and Howes Percival partner Chris Houghton, visited the Foundation’s offices in Wellingborough Road to learn about the various community groups which could benefit from the fundraising.
Jessica Pilkington said: “By supporting the Foundation Howes Percival is helping us award much needed and life-changing grants to a huge range of local groups – whether they be support groups for the isolated and elderly, clubs for people with disabilities, sports projects for children, environmental and healthy eating initiatives or projects designed to cut crime and bring communities closer. A big thank you to Howes Percival for choosing us as their charity – your support makes a real difference.”
