Corporate specialists advise on Inspiralia acquisition of Fen Technology
20th June, 2018
Commercial specialists Howes Percival LLP successfully advised product development business Inspiralia, on the acquisition of Cambridge-based Fen Technology.
Fen Technology Limited is a leading electronics design services firm, providing innovative hardware and software design solutions to leading commercial customers around the world. From project planning, system architecture and specification through to design implementation, Fen’s team of experienced engineers work alongside well-known household names such as Bosch, Schlumberger and Casella on new and innovative concepts and products, all the way from concept to testing and mass production.
Spanish based product development business, Inspiralia, already offers product development services, innovation strategy, technical development and market launch for products. However, the acquisition recognises the strength of Fen’s design services business and its dedicated team of product engineers with the intention that both businesses will complement each other in the future.
Inspiralia have employed Patrick Nicholson as Fen’s Managing Director, with Ciaran McAleer, Paul Buggs and Niels Tjørnhøj-Thomsen continuing in executive roles with the business.
Ciaran McAleer, business development director and co-founder of Fen, said:
“The successful completion of Fen’s acquisition by Inspiralia has allowed us to combine Fen’s strengths in electronic design services with Inspiralia’s successful and thriving product development business. Supplementing Inspiralia’s powerful offering, Fen will significantly extend Inspiralia’s development expertise.
“We were so impressed with the team at Howes Percival who were fantastic to deal with. It has been a while since we've had such a positive experience when dealing with a service supplier. Professionalism, calmness, thoroughness, politeness, trustworthiness, effort, effectiveness...all second to none.”
Commenting on the transaction, Gerald Couldrake, corporate specialist at Howes Percival, added:
“We are delighted to have assisted the shareholders of the Fen in what looks to be an exciting opportunity to continue to grow the business over the coming years. Cambridge is world-renowned for its technology based businesses and Inspiralia obviously recognised the synergies and growth potential that Fen could bring to its wider customer base.
“Howes Percival has been advising owned managed businesses all across the East West Corridor for decades, both in relation to acquisitions and disposals. With the further investment into the business from Inspiralia, and with the ongoing involvement of many of the foundering shareholders of Fen in executive roles going forward, I am sure the business will continue to go from strength to strength.”
