Howes Percival has recognised Black History Month 2021 with a series of initiatives throughout October.
To celebrate the annual event, the firm’s Equality & Diversity Committee launched a digital magazine to promote Black History Month and signpost ways in which the firm’s employees could get involved. The magazine promotes resources such as literature, films, documentaries and podcasts, local events, Black-owned businesses and organisations to support.
Internal events included a discussion group and a quiz focused on topics relating to Black history as well as a talk led by Esther Odejimi-Uzokwe, Programme Director of the #10000BlackInterns project, which Howes Percival is supporting. #10000BlackInterns aims to transform the horizons and prospects of young Black people in the UK by offering 10,000 internships over 5 years across a wide range of industries.
Equality & Diversity Partner, Alex Payton said,
‘Diversity and inclusion is a key strategic priority for Howes Percival and we are thrilled to see initiatives like this one being led by our people. Black History Month offers an excellent opportunity to learn about, understand and celebrate the history of Black people in the UK and worldwide and it’s fantastic that this has been embraced throughout the firm.’
