Law firm celebrates 30 years in Norwich

Howes Percival is celebrating 30 years in Norwich. The firm marked the occasion with a drinks party for clients and friends, which included a reunion for the four original founding partners of the Norwich office - Alan Kefford, Andrew Barnes, Andrew Wood and Sandy Munro.
Howes Percival’s Norwich office was established in 1989 in Colegate. The office grew quickly and the team moved across the road to larger premises at The Guildyard. Colegate remained the office’s home until 2016 when it moved into its current, state-of-the-art offices on Bedding Lane in Norwich’s historic Cathedral Close quarter.
The firm maintains a strong core client base of Norfolk SMEs and family-owned businesses, plus landowners and high net worth individuals alongside international brands and household names.
In 1996, Howes Percival’s Norwich team was awarded its first Government contract. In the last two years, the firm has been appointed to three further Government legal panels including a reappointment from The Insolvency Service who Howes Percival have worked with for over 20 years.
Today, there are close to 100 Howes Percival staff based in Norwich, providing the full range of corporate and family law services.
“I’m absolutely delighted that so many friends, clients and former colleagues came together to celebrate this milestone anniversary. I was especially pleased that the four founding partners were able to join us. The stories from those early years of setting the office up and battling through the recession years in the early 90s to establish the firm we know today, have passed into company legend! The party was a great opportunity to reflect on our achievements over the last three decades, look to the future, and to thank everyone who has supported us over the years.

We’ve seen increased areas of regulation, and technology transform the way we work, but just as importantly, I think there is also now a much better work/life balance and more equal opportunities for all. Even the office itself is unrecognisable from the early days with open plan working, air conditioning and loads of meeting spaces.”
“As a firm, nationally we have been pursuing an investment and growth strategy over the last four years which has seen us open new offices in Cambridge and Milton Keynes and move all our teams into new, modern offices. We’ve also invested significantly in bringing further experienced and talented lawyers into the team. As a result, we’re on track to reach our target, set in 2014, to increase turnover from £15m to £25m by May 2020.”
