Charities

While charitable and fundraising activities take place regularly for a variety of charities and community initiatives, each of our offices selects a local “Charity of the Year” to support.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity was established in 1981 to provide care for patients in Cambridgeshire who have severe illnesses, conditions that are life-limiting, or who are in need of end-of-life assistance.

Annually, the Hospice will care for more than 4,100 patients in their Cambridgeshire Hospice, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre and also in the homes of their patients, thanks to the Arthur Rank Community Team. Due to the good nature of the organisation, patients and their families are able to receive their excellent treatment free of charge.

MK Food Bank

The Food Bank provides emergency food parcels to local families and individuals who hit a short term crisis.

MK Food Bank relies entirely on donations of food and money from local schools, churches, businesses, organisations and individuals and every single item or penny given makes a difference.

In the first 6 weeks of 2022 MK Food Bank gave out more than 2,500 food parcels. This is around 10% up on last year – and rising. It also means that they are running dangerously low on all core food items.

Partnerships

We recognise our responsibility to make a positive impact on the areas in which we work and are proud to be associated with the following organisations:

The Careers & Enterprise Company

Howes Percival is proud support young people in East Anglia by becoming one of The Careers & Enterprise Company’s Cornerstone Employers.

Regular, meaningful encounters with employers is an absolutely vital part of preparing and inspiring young people for the world of work. We know that this kind of support means young people are less likely to be not in education, employment or training (NEET) when they leave school.

Becoming a Cornerstone Employer means we are committing to working together with our networks, the wider business community and schools and colleges to make this happen in East Anglia.

Norwich for Jobs

Norwich for jobs is a network of local employers, charities and organisations volunteering with the aim of getting young people the skills and experience they need to get into work.

Howes Percival supports the initiative in several ways including running mock interviews, providing training on CV writing and by holding workplace tours and presentations.

We were delighted to receive the Norwich for Jobs’ Silver Award in 2019.
