Charities

While charitable and fundraising activities take place regularly for a variety of charities and community initiatives, each of our offices selects a local “Charity of the Year” to support.

Some of the charities we support include:

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH)

A charity which offers care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions as well as their families. EACH offers families flexibility and control over where they receive their care and support whether at home, in hospital or at one of three hospices in Cambridge, Norfolk and Ipswich.

The Lewis Foundation

This Northamptonshire-based charity visits six hospitals throughout the East Midlands every week with a trolley full of gifts for adult cancer patients. Each patient is able to pick what they would like free of charge during their treatment.

The initiative was set up by the Lewis family, who were inspired by their own experience with cancer, to try and make life a little bit easier for people in hospital.

Norwich Foodbank

Norwich Foodbank supports local individuals and families who find themselves on the edge of disaster through the provision of emergency food supplies. These supplies take the form of nutritionally balanced emergency foodboxes to cover an individual or family’s basic needs for 72 hours: the critical time gap before other support services kick in.

Solving Kids’ Cancer

Solving Kids’ Cancer supports children and families affected by neuroblastoma, a rare form of paediatric cancer. The charity provides a range of specialist support services to families affected by neuroblastoma and funds the ground-breaking neuroblastoma research that is essential to push treatment forward and improve outcomes for children.

Partnerships

We recognise our responsibility to make a positive impact on the areas in which we work and are proud to be associated with the following organisations:

Dementia Friends

Howes Percival is working towards becoming a dementia-friendly business. So far, over 70 employees have become Dementia Friends following a training session led by Dementia Friends Champion and Howes Percival Private Client Associate, Amy Wallhead. We are dedicated to making the communities in which we work dementia-friendly. Amy regularly volunteers her time to hold Dementia Friends sessions for individuals, businesses and organisations and has made over 470 Dementia Friends.

The Careers & Enterprise Company

Howes Percival is proud support young people in East Anglia by becoming one of The Careers & Enterprise Company’s Cornerstone Employers.

Regular, meaningful encounters with employers is an absolutely vital part of preparing and inspiring young people for the world of work. We know that this kind of support means young people are less likely to be not in education, employment or training (NEET) when they leave school.

Becoming a Cornerstone Employer means we are committing to working together with our networks, the wider business community and schools and colleges to make this happen in East Anglia.

Norwich for Jobs

Norwich for jobs is a network of local employers, charities and organisations volunteering with the aim of getting young people the skills and experience they need to get into work.

Howes Percival supports the initiative in several ways including running mock interviews, providing training on CV writing and by holding workplace tours and presentations.

We were delighted to receive the Norwich for Jobs’ Silver Award in 2019.

TeenTech

TeenTech is a not-for-profit company which helps young people, regardless of their background or gender, understand the many career opportunities available to them in contemporary industries.

TeenTech Milton Keynes, which will be held on 11 July 2019, is an initiative supported by Milton Keynes College and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and will be open to children from participating schools from all along the Cambridge – MK – Oxford area to attend. By fostering relationships between schools and businesses, the Festival aims to inform and excite young people about possible careers in science, engineering and technology.

Howes Percival is delighted to support MK College as the local TeenTech delivery partner and sit alongside it on the steering committee for the event.
