UK Immigration and Tax Law Update Webinar

Event Date: Wed 25th Mar 2026

UK immigration rules and policy are moving quickly, and employers are feeling the pressure – not just operationally, but in terms of the total cost and compliance footprint of recruiting and moving talent into the UK.

Join Howes Percival and Johnston Carmichael for a practical, joined-up session that looks at recent changes and the reform direction signposted by the Immigration White Paper, separating what is in force today from what is currently under consultation / expected to develop and translating that into the key tax, NIC, payroll and social security considerations for employers.

We'll cover:

  • Sponsorship salary thresholds and sponsorship eligibility – the impact of recent changes and the direction of travel, including how this can affect PAYE/NIC costs and reward design
  • Settlement / ILR timelines – what employers should watch for, and how longer UK stays can influence residence exposure and longer-term UK tax considerations (including the developing FIG landscape)
  • English language requirements – recent tightening and what it may mean in practice (including possible greater reliance on short-term or project-based moves), plus the tax and payroll impacts: STBV, PAYE and social security
  • Visa-related costs (fees, charges and surcharges) – building a full view of mobility cost, interaction with allowances/tax equalisation, and practical reporting/governance considerations

Speakers

  • Bilal Ehsan
  • Tom Harrison
