Howes Percival has appointed two new Partners, Katie James (Insolvency & Corporate Recovery) and Joanne Thomas (Family Law), to its rapidly growing Oxford office.
Katie James has spent over 22 years working in the Thames Valley in insolvency and restructuring law, advising insolvency practitioners, lenders, directors and creditors of distressed companies. Her experience includes sales of businesses by way of administration, company restructuring through Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs), and insolvency litigation to recover assets for the benefit of creditors.
Joanne Thomas is a highly experienced family lawyer particularly sought after for complex financial cases involving academics, professionals and entrepreneurs, including matters with high value pensions, business interests, inherited wealth and trusts. Joanne also advises on private children matters, particularly high conflict cases and situations involving addiction, domestic abuse or coercive control. She has a recognised specialism in modern family formation, advising on donor conception, surrogacy and assisted reproduction. Joanne is also a qualified family mediator.
Howes Percival’s Oxford office opened in January 2024, following the acquisition of specialist commercial, IP & media law firm Maier Blackburn. Since then, the firm has been recruiting and adding specialisms to the office with the aim of developing a full-service legal offering for the city and the surrounding area.
