Howes Percival advises Anglia Restaurants on reacquisition of Castle Carvery business

29th May, 2026

Howes Percival has advised Anglia Restaurants Ltd on the successful reacquisition of the Castle Carvery chain of restaurants from the RedCat Pub Company group. The transaction sees Anglia Restaurants regain ownership of the Castle Carvery restaurants at the Racecourse and Clocktower in Norwich and the Castle Freehouse in Caister-on-Sea.

The deal marks a significant milestone for Anglia Restaurants, restoring ownership of its former sites and the popular regional brand it originally developed and grew over a number of years.

Having previously assisted Anglia Restaurants with the sale of the business in 2022, the Howes Percival Leisure and Tourism team once again advised Anglia Restaurants throughout the transaction, from heads of terms through to completion. The transaction was led by Helaina Mann (Corporate) and Joanna Nicholls (Commercial Property), supported by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in corporate, property and employment matters.

Commenting on the deal, Joanna Nicholls said:

Having acted for Anglia Restaurants for a number of years, we were pleased to support them with reacquiring the Castle Carvery business. Despite ongoing economic pressures in the sector, it is very encouraging to see a strong local champion of the sector reinvest in and revive a brand it originally built.

Commenting on the deal, Helaina Mann added:

I am really pleased that we were able to support Michelle, Matthew and the wider Anglia Restaurants team with this matter. We were working to a challenging timetable but it was great to be able to reach completion so that the client could get in and start implementing its plans for the business ahead of the busy summer period.

Commenting on the transaction, Matthew Williams, director of Anglia Restaurants Ltd, said:

We are delighted to have completed the reacquisition of the Castle Carvery business. These sites and the Castle Carvery brand have been an important part of our journey, and we are excited to bring them back into our portfolio as part of our long-term growth strategy. We are once again grateful to the Howes Percival team for all of its support and assistance.

Following completion, Anglia Restaurants will continue to operate and develop the Castle Carvery brand alongside its Fatso’s Diner restaurant in Norwich, reinforcing its position as a leading hospitality operator within the region.

Howes Percival has extensive experience advising clients in the leisure and tourism sector, acting for a wide range of businesses including hotels and hospitality operators, pubs and restaurants, holiday parks, and visitor attractions. The firm’s multidisciplinary approach enables it to support clients on complex, multi-site and multi-structure transactions across the sector.
