Howes Percival has advised the shareholders of Millington Travel, on the sale of the business to Hays Travel Limited.
Millington Travel, an award-winning travel agency headquartered in Leicester, has been acquired by Hays Travel as part of the group’s continued expansion. Established over 50 years ago, Millington Travel has built a strong reputation for its personalised travel services and extensive local presence, operating across multiple branches in the Midlands. The distinguished brand will continue to operate across the Midlands.
Hays Travel, the UK’s largest independent travel agent, described the acquisition as a natural fit that strengthens its presence in the Midlands region and supports its ambitious growth strategy. The deal marks Hays Travel’s fourth acquisition of the year.
Howes Percival acted for Millington Travel’s shareholders, Nick Bland and Nigel Armitage, on all legal aspects of the transaction. The Howes Percival team was led by Gareth John (Partner, Corporate) and Tanya Hancox (Senior Associate, Corporate), supported by colleagues across the wider firm, including Emma Cobley (Paralegal, Corporate), Samuel Moore (Tax), Stuart Burns and Helen Parrott (Property), Courtney Kidney (Employment), Chloe Bristow and Amy Wright (Company Secretarial Group), and Stephanie Millerchip (Regulatory).
Additional advisers on the deal included Muckles LLP, who advised Hays Travel Limited, Cooper Parry, who provided tax advice to the shareholders, and John Sykes of Skye Corporate Finance Limited, who acted as corporate finance adviser to the shareholders.
Nigel Armitage and Nick Bland of Millington Travel, commented:
It was important to find the right acquirer that met our objectives of protecting the employees, the Millington Travel brand and the customers. We were impressed with Hays’ business ethos of investing in people and supporting brands to ensure they continue to thrive. Our last very wise decision as business owners was to have Howes Percival, Skye Corporate finance & Cooper Parry onboard to guide us through the sale, provide invaluable expertise & knowledge and we are so pleased we made that decision
Tanya Hancox, Senior Associate at Howes Percival, commented:
We were delighted to support Nick and Nigel on this exciting deal. Millington Travel has a fantastic reputation in the travel sector, and this transaction marks a new chapter for the business under Hays Travel’s ownership. The deal was a great team effort, drawing on expertise from across our corporate, tax, property, employment, regulatory and company secretarial teams
