Howes Percival has advised the leading UK water and environmental sustainability specialist Stonbury on its acquisition of Thompsons Group.
Thompsons Group provides commercial tree surgery, vegetation management, tree and ecology surveys, habitat creation, fencing and large-scale tree planting. Howes Percival advised Bedfordshire based Stonbury on all aspects of the acquisition, supporting the business throughout the transaction from the initial heads of terms through to completion.
The team was led by Corporate partner Tom Redman supported by Ben Hancox, Ryan McGuinness and Harriet Sumnall and included Howes Percival specialists from a range of other disciplines including Anna Bithrey and Kate Featherstone (Employment), Nick Ripper and Graham Jones (Property), Marco Mauro and Morgan Stacey (Planning), Robert Starr and Stephanie Millerchip (Regulatory) and Mayoori Ravichandran and Zara Khan (Commercial).
The matter also involved specialist tax input and post-completion company secretarial support.
Howes Percival’s Tom Redman commented,
We continue to see a strong flow of strategic M&A work, particularly from ambitious businesses and investors looking to accelerate growth through acquisition. This deal is a good example of the type of transaction we are increasingly supporting, where clients need not just corporate M&A advice but an integrated team capable of dealing with employment, property, planning, regulatory and other specialist issues as part of a single transaction.
For established, well-backed businesses, M&A remains an important route to accelerating growth, broadening their customer proposition and building greater scale. This is another great example of that strategy in action.
